Support resources There are two key carer support resources recommended by Fostering NSW. Caring for Kids – a website that contains information about a range of day-to-day issues you may encounter as a foster carer, as well as providing a reference point for other useful sources of information and assistance; and Raising them Strong – a downloadable book written specifically for Aboriginal foster carers and kinship carers looking after Aboriginal kids of all ages. There are support agencies for foster carers – you can call or visit their websites for more information. Connecting Carers NSW – 1300 794 653 Aboriginal Statewide Foster Carer Support Service – 1800 888 698 Changes for existing Community Services carers If you are a current carer with Family and Community Services you may be aware that many existing Community Services carers transferred to a non-government agency in recent years.
