Established in 1999, KARI aims to place Aboriginal children and young people with Aboriginal carers and families to facilitate an environment where the child or young person has a connection with their culture whilst in care.

KARI is an Aboriginal-staffed community organisation. It was established in 1999 to effectively manage a culturally appropriate out-of-home care (OOHC) service for the local Aboriginal community in South Western Sydney.

We’ve since grown to the largest Aboriginal OOHC service provider in Australia and have added a number of early intervention, prevention and community education programs to our services.

We believe that identification with culture, family and community are critical in the healthy upbringing of Aboriginal children and young people.

We offer carers/children: a dedicated caseworker, 24 hour on call phone support, access to on-site health professionals, on-going training opportunities and support from our Cultural Unit so children are connected to culture, plus many other opportunities.
