Please be advised that this website has ceased taking online enquiries (as of Monday 18 June), and the Fostering NSW Project will finish on June 30, 2018. The Department of Family and Community Services will follow up any outstanding enquiries after this time. If you have been referred to a local foster care Agency, please contact them directly for more information on your application.

Do you have a question about fostering or are you interested in becoming a foster carer? You can call FACS on 1800 236 783 (Monday to Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm), or complete the contact form found here on the Family and Community Services website.

We recommend you speak directly with foster care agencies in your local area to find out about the foster care options that are available to you and which one is right for your family. Visit our find an agency near you page to find out which foster care agencies are operating in your area, or browse the Foster care agencies page or Aboriginal foster care agencies page.

Some foster care agencies have different requirements and specialities. This includes:

  • Aboriginal Agencies
  • diversity of carers, including same sex carers
  • bilingual carers for children and young people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
  • different age groups of children and young people
  • different types of care and support options
  • religious affiliation
