Welcome to Fostering NSW

Welcome to Fostering NSW, your one-stop site to learn, think and connect to fostering today! Take a look around to find out more about foster care and adoption in New South Wales, Australia.

Fostering NSW is a partnership between the NSW Government and non-government foster care agencies. It was initiated by the NSW Government and is managed by The Association of Children's Welfare Agencies (ACWA), a not-for-profit body representing foster care agencies.

With more than 17,800 children and young people unable to live at home we always need more carers.

Foster carers play a vital role in giving these children safe and caring homes, helping to change their lives for the better. Foster carers come from all walks of life and there’s no such thing as the ‘perfect’ carer! What you do need is patience, energy and a sense of humour – which can all go a long way towards helping a foster child.

You could be a foster carer. Consider it today.

Check out our videos of real carers sharing their experiences and read the stories about what it’s really like to a be the foster carer and a child in care, or the sibling in a foster family.

Apply today! Begin the process to become a foster carer.
